Dog Park Update
Fundraising efforts for the Groveland Dog Park started this fall with the GCSD approvals and subsequent article by Mike Morris of the Union Democrat, who we are please to say mentioned this website in his article...which officially moves us out of the self published, vanity press genre!

Fundraising to date: $6,000! Goal: $10,000

May 2010: It is now the end of the month and we think the weather has finally turned. We will soon have the irrigation system in and then the fence. Once that is done, we will have the bare minimum needed to have a dog park! And will continue the improvements until we are done or out of money!

April 2010: Trenching started fro the irrigation system, then more rain! Phooey!

March 2010: Rain!

February 2010: This month was a "wait for the rains/snow to finish month. We have regraded the park and are ready for the weather to cooperate so we can plant grass.

January 9, 2010: This was our first on location work day. Our tasks include rock relocation to the water trough area and thistle removal to prepare the area for grass seeding in March.

November 12: We received a $2500 matching funds donation. This is so exciting, Goose has never done anything like this before. Our first checks have come in we received another paypal donation.

November 9: At the GCSD Board meeting it was learned that GCSD was successful in their waiver request to Fish & Game to remove the $1993 fee for converting the idle land to a dog park. We now have a short waiting period before digging can commence.

The project has been broken down into the following steps (and in this order too!)
   Map out leach field (GCSD)
   Remove thistle plants (Community)
   Disk & Roll field (GCSD)
Hand pickup rocks in field (Community)
Put up fencing (Community, GCSD can auger the fence post holes)
Dig trench for water line from restrooms (GCSD)
   Seed field (Community)
Install poop bag stations and drinking fountain (Community, GCSD can auger  the hole for the pole)
   Wait ‘til spring (everyone)
