Dog Park Update Fundraising efforts for the Groveland Dog Park started this fall with the GCSD approvals and subsequent article by Mike Morris of the Union Democrat, who we are please to say mentioned this website in his article... which officially moves us out of the self published, vanity press genre! The dog park is open, up and running and we await a time when we get our plaques printed, benches set and can schedule a Nice Weathered Open House. Follow along on the Dog Park online at www.Facebook.com/GrovelandDogPark 12/16/2010: The Dog Park is ready with the basics, a fence and gates. Beautification to continue, but what we need to open is in place. Please stop into GCSD pick up your permit. Fundraising as of 8/24/2010: $8,685! Goal: $12,000. Please keep those donations coming! August update: Well, the rains did indeed stop, then the visitors came in droves and our Community Services resources were allocated to keeping the town's water, sewer and fire running a smooth operation. At the dog park we have the irrigation system laid and ready to hook into the main system for leak testing. Once this is done, we can begin fencing the perimeter. We believe we are on target for a fall opening. August 2010: The Frank & Darlene Hicks golf tournament donated $450 to the dog park. Thanks Frank & Darlene! July 2010: The irrigation system is purchased and installed over a series of 5 weekends with a few voluteers helping out along the way. Thanks Team! June 2010: We received an anonymous $1,000 donation. Thank you so much! May 2010: It is now the end of the month and we think the weather has finally turned. We hope to have the irrigation system in soon and then the fence. Once that is done, we will have the bare minimum needed to have a dog park! And will continue the improvements until we are done or out of money! April 2010: Trenching started fro the irrigation system, then more rain! Phooey! March 2010: Rain! February 2010: This month was a "wait for the rains/snow" to finish month. We have regraded the park and are ready for the weather to cooperate so we can plant grass.
November 12: We received a $2500 matching funds donation. This is so exciting, Goose has never done anything like this before. Our first checks have come in we received another paypal donation. November 9: At the GCSD Board meeting it was learned that GCSD was successful in their waiver request to Fish & Game to remove the $1993 fee for converting the idle land to a dog park. We now have a short waiting period before digging can commence. The project
has been broken down into the following steps (and in this order too!) Fundraising Efforts: If you can't join us in the field for a work day, perhaps you could help support the operation financially. There are two ways to donate: Write a tax deductible check to
GAINS and mail it to Hotel Charlotte Folks can also PapPal their donation to the Dog Park but this option may not be tax deductible.
